About The Council

Following the enactment of the West African Examinations Council Ordinances in 1951 by the governments of Ghana (then known as the Gold Coast), Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, the West African Examinations Council was founded in 1952 as a non-profit organisation with its headquarters located in Accra, Ghana.

In 1974, Liberia was admitted as the fifth member of the Council. The Jeffrey Report, which firmly backed the idea of creating a regional examining board to harmonise and standardise pre-university evaluation processes across what was then British West Africa, served as the foundation for the Ordinances’ passage.

Commitments:

  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of Human Resources policies and programmes
  • Assist in the handling of staff development and management issues
  • Co-ordinate staff performance management processes
  • Preparation of Human Resource Management reports

Expertise:

  • Possess a minimum of a First Degree in Business Administration (HRM/Management) or Social Science
  • Have at least 3 years relevant working experience in Human Resource Management/Development
