The Bureau of Integrated Rural Development (BIRD), under the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, is conducting a baseline study for a client between May 20 and June 1, 2024, in the Northern and Volta regions of Ghana.
The selected districts in the Northern region are Kumbungu, Mion and Nanumba South, and Akatsi North and Anloga in the Volta region.
Duties and Responsibilities
Pre-Enumeration duties:
- Attend enumerators’ training workshop
- Conduct a pretest of questionnaires
Enumeration duties: - Travel to selected communities with organized transport
- Collect data using the questionnaires provided on the tablets
- Ensure data is accurately recorded
- Safeguard the anonymity of respondents, instil confidentiality and develop a relationship of trust with respondents during the data collection exercise
- Take responsibility for field materials and equipment that you may be entrusted with
- Perform other tasks related to the fieldwork that may be assigned to you
Post-Enumeration: - Ensure that all questionnaires are completed and uploaded on time
- Hand over all materials and equipment provided for use in the data collection to BIRD
Required Skills and Experience - Strong inter-personal skills: Interested persons must be able to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and develop rapport with respondents
- Strong technical and technology skills with hands-on experience in using electronic data collection platforms like Kobo Collect or ODK Collect for conducting semi-structured interviews, or surveys with open-ended questions with post-coding.
- Fluency in the following local languages preferably Dagbani, Mampruli, Hausa and Ewe is required.
- Interested persons should possess at least a first degree or preferably an MBA, MSc/MA/MPhil in disciplines related to agriculture or related discipline. Extensive field data collection experience in relevant disciplines will be an added advantage.
- Attention to detail; interested persons must be detail-oriented and be able to follow complex but simple instructions
- Interested persons MUST be available to attend enumerator’s training at KNUST, Kumasi
