Dr. Lauren Welte is inviting applications for two fully funded positions in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about measuring and understanding how the human body moves to optimize performance and inform the treatment of foot and ankle pathologies.
Research project areas:
The Lower limb Imaging and Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Lab (LIMB Lab) has a variety of research projects that aim to explore how the human body manages the demands of locomotion, Research topics span the development and application of cutting-edge imaging techniques, to understanding how humans interact with footwear and their external environment.
Using state-of-the-art technologies, such as biplanar videoradiography, tensiometry, and ultrasound, our research strives to better understand lower limb biomechanics, to ultimately improve people’s quality of life.

Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, kinesiology or other relevant program.
Minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA
Effective and professional written and verbal communication skills; English proficiency.
Open to all (Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and international candidates)
Preferred qualifications:
°Proficiency in programming (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
°Previous experience with biomechanical projects, musculoskeletal modelling, machine leaming, computer vision, or biomedical imaging is considered an asset but is not essential.
Start date: Fall 2024 or January 2025 (earlier or later start dates may be considered).
