It’s well deserved, says Otto Addo after Ghana’s emphatic 3-0 win over Madagascar

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has praised his side for their emphatic 3-0 win against Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana stunned Madagascar 3-0 in the Matchday six games of the qualifiers to solidify their stay at the top of Group I on Monday night at the Al Hoceima Grand Stadium in Morocco.

Thomas Partey’s brace and Mohammed Kudus’ goal were enough as the Black Stars enhanced their chances of qualifying for the tournament that will be hosted in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.

Speaking after the win over Madagascar on Monday, March 24, Addo praised his side and said it was a well-deserved win.

“Like I said, it is not done yet. We still have to work hard. This is football, [and] things can turn very fast, and as a national [team] coach, you always have to wait for some months before you can get the team together to play again,” he said.

I am very happy with the result and the way we played. It’s well deserved, and we are looking forward.

“We can’t change the past. We have to look forward and use this position in which we are now to qualify for the World Cup,” he added.

Ghana has moved five clear of second-placed Madagascar.

The Black Stars who now sit at the top of Group I will now shift their focus to their upcoming qualifiers in September, where they will face Chad away before hosting Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 games.
