More Than 30 Students From Islamic SHS hospitalized After Police Allegedly Used Tear Gas On Them During A Demonstration [Video].

At least 30 students from the Islamic Senior High School in Abrepo, in the Ashanti Region, were sent to the hospital after police allegedly fired tear gas at them while they protested in front of the school against the high number of traffic accidents.

According to reports, the school’s kids stopped on the road in front of them as a form of protest against the frequent knockdowns.

They bemoaned the fact that repeated requests for speed ramps had been ignored.

The police were called to clear the road obstruction and disperse the protesters, according to Ashanti Regional Correspondent Hafiz Tijani.

The use of tear gas on the youngsters reportedly caused some of them to lose consciousness while others were left in excruciating pain.

Ambulances are currently at the school carrying hurt students to hospitals, and police presence there has increased.

Following the event, some parents are flooding the school.

“I heard there is a scuffle in the school and the police attacked the students, shooting and beating them. I heard the police chased them even into their dormitories and were beating the girls. I feel very bad seeing school children on the floor unconscious. Everybody is messed up here,” a parent said.
