Government statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Annim

A new report by the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has revealed that four out of every five public sector employees earn less than 3000ghc a month.

533,179 of the 688,000 people working for the government make less than 3000 GH. This is equivalent to 80% of the overall workforce.
According to the new poll, Ghana 2022 Earnings: Inequality in the Public Sector, 104,349 people earn between 3000 and 4999 Ghana Cedis, while 20,606 people earn between 5000 and 9999 Ghana Cedis.

According to the survey, 6,225 persons make more than 10,000 Ghana cedis every month.
The top 10% earnings in the public sector make up 22% of all salaries received by the government, despite the fact that the sector’s highest compensation is 33,000 cedis.

The service also states that the average annual wage for employees in the public sector is 2,594.

80% of public sector employees make less than 3,000 GHC per year. Four out of every five employees—that is, 4—earn less than 3000GHC. On the other hand, if there are differences and your take-home pay is between $418 and 33,000 GHC, there is a disparity.

Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, a government statistician, disclosed this information at the publication of the 2022 report on earnings inequality in the public sector.
